Maurice Scully

Maurice Scully was born in Dublin in 1952. Widely published, his books include Love Poems & Others, 5 Freedoms of Movement, The Basic Colours, Priority, Steps, Livelihood, Tig, Sonata, Doing the Same in English, A Tour of the Lattice Several Dances. 

Two online publications from Smithereens Press Rain & Plays. A book of essays on his work, A line of tiny zeros in the fabric, is due from Shearsman Books in 2020. PennSound features his CD Mouthpuller along with a reading at Unnameable Books, NYC in 2018. His reading with Anne Tardos in the Holloway Series in Poetry at Berkeley is on YouTube. He published an award-winning children’s book, What is the Cat Looking At? with the artist Bianca Grunwald-Game in Berlin in 1995.

In 1981 he was awarded the Macaulay Fellowship and Arts Council Bursaries in Literature in 1986 & 1988 along with the Katherine & Patrick Kavanagh Fellowship in 2004. He was elected to Aosdána in 2009.
