‘The Poetry Line’ an initiative from Poetry Ireland in collaboration with ALONE and supported by members of Aosdána took place on Thursday 18th June.
‘The Poetry Line’ invited individuals who are cocooning to sign up to receive a phone call from an Aosdána member. ‘The Poetry Line’ first took place on Poetry Day Ireland, Thursday 30 April, with Aosdána literature members generously participating and reading one or two reassuring poems to members of the public. The initiative was developed in response to COVID-19 restrictions and aimed to provide connection through poetry at a time that may have felt very isolating.
‘The Poetry Line’ once again invited individuals who were cocooning to sign up to receive a phone call, this time from various members of Aosdána from the disciplines of literature, visual art, music and choreography who generously participated.
In advance of the The Poetry line on Thursday 18 June 2020, Poetry Ireland received requests from recipients who also made suggestions for specific poems.
