The Arts Council publishes ‘Aosdána Beginnings’ by Mark Duncan, commissioned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Aosdána in 2022.  Free copies of the publication are available to the public.

Aosdána has expressed its sadness at the passing of poet and member Maurice Scully.

Camille Souter was raised in Ireland and originally trained as a nurse at Guy’s Hospital London, before taking up painting in the mid 1950s. Though her usually small-scale paintings appear abstract they are firmly based within reality and the everyday. Souter has exhibited extensively since the 1960s.

A series of blogs from Aosdána members Ciaran O’Driscoll, Aideen Barry, Mary O’Malley, Evelyn Conlon and Bernadette Kiely have been commissioned by the Arts Council in celebration of its 70^th year, exploring creativity and collaboration.

President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins presided at a ceremony this morning, Thursday 17^th November, to mark the election of poet Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin as Saoi in Aosdána. 

Aosdána, the affiliation of creative artists in Ireland, elected 1 new member at its annual General Assembly in O’Reilly Hall, UCD Belfield, 14 November 2022. The newly elected member is Jesse Jones and brings the membership to 250 members.

Aosdána sends best wishes to member and elected Saoi, George Morrison on his 100^th birthday. As a filmmaker and photographer, George’s contribution to the arts has spanned the decades, and his directorial legacy is amongst the greatest in Ireland’s history.
