Aosdána Announces New Member

Today, Aosdána elects 1 new member. The newly elected member is choreographer John Scott. There had been a tie between 3 candidates for the last available place at the first ballot count on 13 October. Today’s election completes the election of new members for 2020.

Aosdána elects 12 new members

Today, Aosdána, the affiliation of creative artists in Ireland, elects 12 new members. The 12 newly elected members are: Kevin Barry (Literature); Gerard Byrne (Visual Art); Pat Collins (Visual Art); Jim Doherty (Music); Margo Harkin (Visual Art); Martin Lynch (Literature); Gina Moxley (Literature); Valerie Mulvin (Architecture); Mairead O’hEocha (Visual Art); Arthur Riordan (Literature); Liz Roche (Choreography); Jennifer Walshe (Music). This brings the membership to 249 members.

There is a tie between candidates for the last available place, a postal ballot will be arranged as soon as possible to decide the outcome for the final place.

Members of Aosdána on Culture Night

Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir returns for its fifteenth edition today Friday, 18 September 2020. This is the first year that the Arts Council has taken stewardship of Culture Night, and it will feature its biggest programme to date. Many of this year’s events take place online with offline events programmed around the country in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines. Here, we are highlighting some of the events featuring Aosdána members in different counties.

Aosdána and The Great Book of Ireland

In April 2019 the 40th Annual General Assembly of Aosdána was held in University College Cork. The Assembly took place on 5th April and was preceded by a special ceremony in UCC on 4th April, during which members were invited to view The Great Book of Ireland.
