Maurice Scully was born in Dublin in 1952. Widely published, his books include Love Poems & Others, 5 Freedoms of Movement, The Basic Colours, Priority, Steps, Livelihood, Tig, Sonata, Doing the Same in English, A Tour of the Lattice & Several Dances.
Two online publications from Smithereens Press are Rain & Plays with a third, Participation, forthcoming. A book of essays on his work is due from Shearsman Books in 2019. He published an award-winning children’s book, What is the Cat Looking At? with the artist Bianca Grunwald-Game in Berlin in 1995.
In 1981 he was awarded the Macaulay Fellowship and Arts Council Bursaries in Literature in 1986 & 1988 along with the Katherine & Patrick Kavanagh Fellowship in 2004. He was elected to Aosdána in 2009.
A new work, Play Book, is currently under way.
