Arthur Riordan

Arthur Riordan is a playwright and actor, and a founder member of Rough Magic Theatre company. His plays for Rough Magic include a stage adaptation of Joyce’s A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man; the book and lyrics for the musical The Train (music by Bill Whelan); an adaptation of Ibsen’s Peer Gynt; the book and lyrics for the musical Improbable Frequency (music by Conor Kelly and Sam Park); a play, Hidden Charges, and a one-man show, The Emergency Session. Arthur’s other writing for the stage includes the libretto for Andrew Synnott’s Dubliners opera (for Opera Theatre Company and Wexford Festival Opera); a stage adaptation of Flann O’Brien’s unfinished novel, Slattery’s Sago Saga (for the Performance Corporation); Love Me?! (a Corn Exchange Car Show production), two collaborations with Des Bishop: Rap Eire (Bickerstaffe Productions) and Shooting Gallery (Bedrock Productions); and a commission for Macra na Feirme, The Last Temptation of Michael Flatley.
