Grace Weir, a graduate of the National College of Art and Design and Trinity College, Dublin (M.Sc in Multimedia) has been working for the past 20 years as a visual artist in Ireland. She has received many awards and commissions. She is a versatile artist - comfortable in the cutting room of a film studio as she is in a bronze foundry or kiln room. Philosophy, physics and mathematics are all driving forces and inspirations in her art. In 2001, she represented Ireland at the Venice Biennale with a work called Around Now, which involved hiring a helicopter, circumnavigating a cloud and filming inwards. Her diverse work ranges from the Viking Centre in Dublin where she literally painted with concrete, (1996) to web projects for both the Nordic Institute for Contemporary Art (2001) and the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin (2001).
