Joe Walker

Born in Dublin and living and working in Dromahair, Leitrim, Joe Walker first exhibited at Living Arts Exhibition, in Guinness Hop Store, Dublin and S.A.D.E. Crawford Municipal Gallery, Cork in 1987. He works both individually and collaboratively with his brother Pat, exhibiting as Walker and Walker. In 2005, Walker and Walker co-represented Ireland at the 51st International Venice Biennale with their film installation ‘Nightfall’ and have exhibited widely both nationally and internationally. He has have received several Arts Council of Ireland Bursaries and Awards and is represented in The Arts Council of Northern Ireland art collection. Recent solo exhibitions include at the Hugh Lane, Dublin City Gallery in 2012, the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin in 2004 and at Floating Up, Manchester and Temple Bar Gallery and Studios in 2003. Group exhibitions include Punctum at Salzburger Kunstverein in 2014; Super 8, at the Museum of Modern Art, Rio de Janeiro 2013, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco and Künstlerhaus Berlin, in 2012, Christopher Grimes Gallery, LA in 2011; Northern Lights in Galleria Civica di Modena, Italy in 2007; Time's Arrow at the Rotunda Gallery in New York 2005; Presence at Gimpel fils, London, 2005; Are we there yet in Glassbox, Paris; Do something at Floating Up in 2004; Arranged Marriage Outer Space(s) at the Contemporary Arts Council, Chicago USA and How things turn out at the Irish Museum of Modern Art, Dublin all in 2002. Joe Walker was elected to Aosdána in March 2015. Further details:
