Rosaleen Davey

Born in Belfast in 1947, she studied at the Ulster College of Art and at Leeds University. After working in administration and research at the National Gallery, London (1971-1975) she returned to Ireland. Since 1977 she has lived in Dublin.

Solo exhibitions include the Caldwell Gallery, Dublin (1982); Taylor Galleries, Dublin (1989, 91, 93); Fenderesky Gallery, Belfast (1992); RIAI Gallery, Dublin (1995); Butler Gallery, Kilkenny Castle (1996); Ayesha Castle Gallery, Co. Dublin (1997) and the Cavanacor Gallery, Co. Donegal ( 2001) 

Rosemary has exhibited regularly at all the main group exhibitions in Ireland, including RHA, Independent Artists, Figurative Image, Boyle Arts Festival, Aer Rianta and EVA, Limerick. Others include The Irish Exhibition of Living Art (1978), SADE, Municipal Art Gallery, Cork (1982), Vital Presence, Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick (1998) and IMMA, Maurice Foley Collection (2000).

Her work is represented in many of the major public collections in Ireland. Among these are the Arts Councils of Ireland and Northern Ireland, Contemporary Irish Arts Society, Boyle Civic Collection, Allied Irish Banks and most recently the Office of Public Works, Dublin (2005). Private collectors extend worldwide.

She won the Claremorris Open Exhibition in 1990. Numerous bursaries and awards have been given to her by the Arts Councils of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
