Michael Byrne

Born in Dublin, Michael Byrne studied at the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin, and King Alfred’s College, Winchester in the UK.

He worked for the Arts Council/an Chomhairle Ealaíon and for NCAD. He was a founder member of Independent Artists, a committee member of Project Arts Centre and of the Black Church Print Studio, both in Dublin.

He exhibited widely in Ireland and abroad, and his paintings and prints are in private and public collections worldwide. His solo exhibitions include Inglewood Library Gallery in Los Angeles; Project Arts Centre (1968-71); and Setanta Gallery, Dublin (1974, 76, 81). He published limited editions of lithographs and silk screen prints.
