Ciaran O'Driscoll

Ciaran O'Driscoll was born in Callan, County Kilkenny. He now lives in Limerick where he lectures in art, literature and media at the School of Art and Design (Limerick Institute of Technology).

He began to publish poetry in magazines at the end of the 1970s and early '80s. His first publication in book form was in the Blackstaff's Trio series in 1985. His first full collection was Gog and Magog in 1987 and his fifth was The Old Woman of Magione in 1997. He won the coveted James Joyce Prize in 1989. His recent compilations Moving On, Still There in 2001, and his childhood memoir A Runner among Falling Leaves 2001), have been critically acclaimed among his peers.

Selections of his work have been translated into French, German, Italian, Hungarian and Russian. He is a committee member of Cuisle Limerick City International Poetry Festival.
