Tom MacIntyre

Born in Cavan in 1931, Tom MacIntyre writes in Irish and English.

Has had many plays performed by the Abbey Theatre, most notably The Great Hunger, Good Evening Mr. Collins, Caoineadh Airt Uí Laoghaire and most recently What Happened Bridgie Cleary. The Gallant John-Joe written especially for Tom Hickey toured Ireland in 2001 and has been played in the UK and the USA.

His books of poetry include Stories of the Wandering Moon and Silenus na gCat which won the Oireachtas Prize for Poetry in 2000. He has also written two novels and several collections of short stories. His Selected Stories, The Word for Yes, are available from Gallery books.
